Terms and conditions
Covid-19
- All visitors who wish to guarantee their entry on a specific date are advised to book in advance. This includes those who would normally not pay for admission (e.g. annual pass holders)
- The wearing of a face covering is a condition of entry, excluding children under 11 and those who are exempt
- Face coverings can be removed outside the building or if eating or drinking at tables in the tea room
- Customers’ contact details will be kept for 21 days. We will provide them to NHS Test and Trace if required
Tickets
- Tickets (including admission tickets and event tickets) cannot be transferred, exchanged, refunded or returned
- They may not be resold and have no cash value
- Complimentary tickets and annual passes cannot be used on special event days unless otherwise indicated
Cancellation
- The Museum of East Dorset reserves the right to cancel any event at short notice. You will be notified as soon as possible and you will be offered a full refund or you may transfer to an alternative date, except in the case of cancellation due to government policy changes regarding Covid-19
- In the event of force majeure an event may be cancelled or postponed. In this case tickets and/or consequential loss will not be subject to reimbursement
Buying tickets online
- Tickets are sent to the email address provided when placing the order
- Single visit tickets are valid on the day marked on the ticket only
- The ticket must be presented on arrival
- The Museum of East Dorset reserves the right to refuse admission if it suspects tickets are being misused or duplicated fraudulently
- All visitors covered by a ticket must arrive and be admitted together
Complimentary or discounted admission
Excluding event days, free admission is offered to:
- A necessary carer accompanying a disabled visitor
- Children under 5
- Valid annual pass holders
- Complimentary ticket holders
The Museum of East Dorset reserves the right to decline complimentary admission to complimentary tickets holders when:
- The ticket is not genuine
- The ticket has expired
- The ticket is not recognised
Complimentary admission can be withdrawn if other terms and conditions of entry are not met.
Group visits and group ticketing
- Group visits must be booked in advance
- Group rates are not available for events
- Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times, with enough adults attending to meet our minimum ratio
- Group tickets do not include an annual pass
Gift Aid
Gift Aid allows charities to reclaim tax (25p for every £1) from the government on donations. If you are a UK taxpayer, by opting to Gift Aid you enable us to treat your payment as a donation.
Annual pass
- The annual pass entitles the holder to unlimited repeat visits (excluding events) for one year
- It is valid for one year from the point that the ticket is purchased
- It is not transferable
- You must bring your annual pass with you on each return visit in order to gain admission
If an annual pass is lost:
- If purchased online, locate your booking confirmation email and contact the museum
- If purchased at the museum, the ticket will have to be purchased again to gain admission
General conditions of entry
The Museum of East Dorset reserves the right to refuse admission or require any ticket holder to leave the premises at our discretion should they fail to comply with these conditions. We will be the final arbiter; admission fees will not be refunded if you are asked to leave.
- Once site capacity is reached no admission is permitted without a valid ticket
- Dogs, except assistance dogs, are not permitted on the premises
- All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times
- No smoking is permitted on the premises
- Visitors must ensure that all personal belongings are kept with them at all times
- We will not accept responsibility for loss or damage of possessions on the premises
- CCTV is used on site for crime prevention and public safety
- Photographs taken inside the museum are for personal use only. They may not be used for commercial purposes without prior arrangement and may be subject to a licensing fee
- Visitors may be photographed or filmed on the premises and these images may be used for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be photographed for this purpose you must make this clear immediately on arrival
- We reserve the right to cancel, amend, curtail or abandon any activity, event or to close the museum or site without notice. This right is reserved without liability to pay any person compensation or damages
Our website
- You are permitted to access, download and print pages on a temporary basis for the sole purpose of viewing them for non commercial personal or educational purposes
- All copyright and all other intellectual property rights existing in this website are and remain our property
- Whilst we endeavour to ensure that this site is available 24 hours a day, we will not be liable if for any reason the site is unavailable at any time or for any period
- Access to this site may be suspended temporarily and without notice
- Whilst we endeavour to ensure that the information on this site is accurate, we shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use of or inability to use this site, or any information contained in it, or from any action or decision taken as a result of using this site or any such information
- We accept no responsibility for the content of any site to which a hypertext link from this site exists. The links are provided ‘as is’ with no warranty, express or implied, for the information provided therein
- By accessing any part of this site you shall be deemed to have accepted these terms in full
