Terms & Conditions

Terms and conditions

  • All visitors who wish to guarantee their entry on a specific date are advised to book in advance. This includes those who would normally not pay for admission (e.g. annual pass holders)
  • The wearing of a face covering is a condition of entry, excluding children under 11 and those who are exempt
  • Face coverings can be removed outside the building or if eating or drinking at tables in the tea room
  • Customers’ contact details will be kept for 21 days. We will provide them to NHS Test and Trace if required

  • Tickets (including admission tickets and event tickets) cannot be transferred, exchanged, refunded or returned
  • They may not be resold and have no cash value
  • Complimentary tickets and annual passes cannot be used on special event days unless otherwise indicated

  • The Museum of East Dorset reserves the right to cancel any event at short notice. You will be notified as soon as possible and you will be offered a full refund or you may transfer to an alternative date, except in the case of cancellation due to government policy changes regarding Covid-19
  • In the event of force majeure an event may be cancelled or postponed. In this case tickets and/or consequential loss will not be subject to reimbursement

Buying tickets online

  • Tickets are sent to the email address provided when placing the order
  • Single visit tickets are valid on the day marked on the ticket only
  • The ticket must be presented on arrival
  • The Museum of East Dorset reserves the right to refuse admission if it suspects tickets are being misused or duplicated fraudulently
  • All visitors covered by a ticket must arrive and be admitted together

Complimentary or discounted admission

Excluding event days, free admission is offered to:

  • A necessary carer accompanying a disabled visitor
  • Children under 5
  • Valid annual pass holders
  • Complimentary ticket holders

The Museum of East Dorset reserves the right to decline complimentary admission to complimentary tickets holders when:

  • The ticket is not genuine

  • The ticket is not recognised

Complimentary admission can be withdrawn if other terms and conditions of entry are not met.

Group visits and group ticketing

  • Group visits must be booked in advance
  • Group rates are not available for events
  • Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times, with enough adults attending to meet our minimum ratio
  • Group tickets do not include an annual pass

Gift Aid

Gift Aid allows charities to reclaim tax (25p for every £1) from the government on donations. If you are a UK taxpayer, by opting to Gift Aid you enable us to treat your payment as a donation.

Annual pass

  • The annual pass entitles the holder to unlimited repeat visits (excluding events) for one year
  • It is valid for one year from the point that the ticket is purchased
  • It is not transferable
  • You must bring your annual pass with you on each return visit in order to gain admission

If an annual pass is lost:

  • If purchased online, locate your booking confirmation email and contact the museum
  • If purchased at the museum, the ticket will have to be purchased again to gain admission
