Wimborne’s Museum of East Dorset is delighted to announce the launch of Cup of Calm, a new community‑focused initiative designed to bring people together over a warm drink and friendly conversation in the peaceful surroundings of the museum’s Garden Tea Room.
Cup of Calm, which runs every Monday at 2pm will offer a gentle, welcoming space for anyone who might benefit from a moment of connection – whether they’re new parents, people who have recently moved to the area, or those who may be feeling lonely, isolated or bereaved. The aim is simple: to create a relaxed environment where people of all ages can pause, chat and feel part of a supportive community.
Set within the museum’s much‑loved Tea Room, Cup of Calm invites visitors to slow down, enjoy a cuppa and meet others in a warm, judgement‑free setting. The initiative reflects the museum’s ongoing commitment to nurturing community wellbeing and offering inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome.
“Cup of Calm is all about offering people a gentle place to land, even if just for half an hour. We know how powerful a simple conversation over a cuppa can be – especially for those feeling a bit adrift, overwhelmed or alone. Our Tea Room is the perfect setting for people to feel welcomed, seen and supported,” explained Lorraine Lewis, manager of the Tea Room.
Cup of Calm is part of a growing programme of community‑minded activities at the Museum of East Dorset, designed to support residents, strengthen social connections and provide a gentle point of contact for those who need it most.
