ThIs workshop is an ideal introduction to the craft of handmade books using traditional sewing methods. Beginning with the simple pamphlet stitch and progressing to a six section long-stitch book, this workshop will teach you 6 different sewn book structures from the book “Non-Adhesive Binding: Books without Paste or Glue: 1” by Keith Smith. Now being offered as a 5 hour workshop with an hour for lunch, to allow plenty of time for participants to enjoy learning and to achieve all six projects.

You will learn about paper grain direction, how to fold and cut down sheets of paper to make sections and how to measure and prick sewing holes accurately. Each book in this series helps you to understand how sewn bindings work, develop your technique and manual skills and most of all build your confidence.

If you would like to make you own journals and sketchbooks and are interested in learning bookbinding, this workshop is an excellent foundation to build on.

Please note this workshop requires a minimum of 4 participants in order to run. In the unlikely event that we do not achieve this, you will receive an email notification one week before the course with an alternative date or the option to receive a refund.
