In this introduction to printmaking learn how to create a Linocut design that can be used to make your own hand-printed cards or stationery.

Inspired by the Museum’s ‘Stationers Shop’ and unique card collection, you will be guided by Artist/Tutor, Julie Herring, to create your own design for cards or stationery or a subject of your choice. Classes are small, fun and friendly, no experience required.

Learn how to draw, design and create your own images; safely cut the lino block; ink the plate; and hand-print your designs. Once completed, you will have a plate to take away with you to use over and over!

Materials:

The introductory materials pack* will be available to purchase at £10 from the tutor. This pack includes lino (15 x 10cm), carbon paper and tracing paper.

All lino-cutting tools and materials will be provided by the tutor, on loan to participants during the workshop. Inks will be provided for the printing stages. Any additional sheets of lino (various sizes) and paper can be provided and sold by the tutor as required, during the class.

Participants are asked to bring sketchbooks and pencils (but sketching packs can also be available for sale by the tutor).

Participants are advised to wear suitable ‘old clothes’ or bring aprons for printing.

We require 4 bookings in order for this workshop to run. In the unlikely event that this is not achieved, an alternative date will be offered and if this is not suitable, a refund issued.

This is a fundraising event and all profits made go towards the running of the museum
