This workshop will introduce you to stitched shibori and how to make your own exciting and individual shibori fabric patterns, enabling you to create with confidence and pride.
Annabel has distilled many years of working with shibori to make a fun day of creativity and discovery. You will be given lots of guidance and encouragement through the different processes and stitch techniques.
Annabel says “My focus is to help participants bring to life images from the natural world in stitched shibori. There will be lots of examples of my textiles to help inspire everyone. Plus, many templates and beautiful pattern ideas to guide and stimulate you, but do bring any personal images of inspiration and I will help you realise it in shibori”
In this shibori workshop we will include the following:
- How to start all shibori stitching, and other tips to make it a success.
- Learn step-by-step how to make 4 or 5 different shibori stitch techniques. Discover all about ori-nui, ne-maki, maki-nui, miru and maki-age shibori techniques.
- Dye the fabrics using Rit dyes, colourful, easy, and simple to use at home.
- Create some small, dyed pieces and make a larger piece, if time, for a cushion cover, bag, scarf or small hanging.
If you love hand sewing and colour you will enjoy your day!
