The Museum of East Dorset has a regular programme of changing exhibitions. These can be found in the museum’s Temporary Exhibitions Gallery.

Sir Ernest Kaye Le Fleming – doctor and historian

The Museum of East Dorset celebrates the life and achievements of local GP, gifted photographer, pioneer of early motoring, collector of antiques and local historian: Ernest Kaye Le Fleming (1872 – 1946).

Le Fleming led a distinguished career. In 1934 he was elected Chairman of the Council of the British Medical Association (BMA). He was knighted in 1937 and awarded the BMA Gold Medal in 1941. At the same time, he was deeply involved in the social, political and cultural life of Wimborne.

The exhibition explores Sir Ernest Kaye Le Fleming’s life and varied interests. Highlights include the knighthood medal and BMA gold medal awarded for services to the medical profession. Other things to look out for are a fully stocked 19th century travelling medicine chest and photographs of Wimborne and district which he took in the early 1900s.

Visit the exhibition to find out why we’ve included a small crocodile.
