- Circumstances of death: Was killed on HMS HAMPSHIRE of the Orkney Islands. Ship was on its way to Russia with Lord Kitchener to attend negotiations who was also drowned.The ship was sunk by a mine and loss of life was 736 drowned and only 12 survivors. His body was never recovered.
