Buried 27 Feb 1916 (Dorset Yeomanry Report of deaths on field service 191618) Officer wrote "Your son Sgt Waters was killed in action on 26 Feb in a very gallant charge made by the Dorset Yeomanry. He died at once so I am thankful to say did not suffer at all. I can't tell you what a loss he will be to me in the squadron, as he ran his troop so exceedingly well and one could always rely on him to carry order out". Officer Commanding C Squadron "He was one of my best and most promising noncommissioned officers".
