- Spouse Name: Dora Lucy EDWARDS (widow) marries Francis Willie (William) STEELE in the Wimborne District in Q4, 1907 (Francis’s army records lists their marriage at Wimborne Registry Office on 24/12/1907) Dora was born as Dora Lucy Stephens in Q4, 1875 in Dymock.
- Notes: The Cranborne Church of England Schools Log Book for 1912 1929 in its entry dated 31 July 1917: Private William Steel, a native of Camborne, and for many years a scholar of this school has just been awarded the Military Cross for carrying out men out of a dug out. Reg; Somerset L.I. From the Military Medal Records we have been able to identify William Steel as Francis William (or Willie) and from many West of England newspapers we know he is married and living in Cheddar. His silver war badge confirms this and is still living in the same house in Cheddar from the 1911 Census.
